Jean Warner Kafer, (Jeanne), was born in Dayton Ohio.  She graduated from Ashland College, in Ashland, Ohio, and taught visual arts education and environmental education for 30 years.

She and her husband David together have four children and twelve grandchildren scattered throughout the United States.  They enjoy one cat Nora, who basically runs the family.

Jean and David moved to Grand Lake in 1998 when Jean accepted a teaching position with East Grand Schools at Granby Elementary. 

Jean is an active volunteer with Grand County Search and Rescue, the Troublesome Horse Rescue and Therapeutic Riding Program, the Independent Sports club, Shacowcliff Retreat Center, and the Mountain Family Center.  She currently serves as Secretary for the Board of RMRT.

Jean was elected as North Central Ohio’s Art Educator of the Year and Colorado Opera’s Opera Educator of the Year.

In her “free” time, Jean enjoys hiking, traveling, French cooking, entertaining, reading, and being with her family and friends. 

Someday, Jean hopes to return to studio art.
