Shrek Square– Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig
– Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire
– Music by Jeanine Tesori
– Originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairytale adventure. “Once upon a time, there was an ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, over a dozen other fairytale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Rocky Mountain Rep looks forward to bringing this comedic, family-friendly musical to Grand Lake this summer!

Urinetown the musical square– Music and Lyrics by Mark Hollman
– Book and Lyrics by Greg Kotis
Urinetown was produced on Broadway in September, 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheatreDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell

Set in a Gotham-like city gripped by a devastating 20-year drought, the story follows a society under a government-enforced ban on private toilets, forcing citizens to rely on public restrooms. These facilities are controlled by a single, malevolent corporation that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. When one man decides he’s had enough, he sparks a revolution that could lead them all to freedom.

No one is safe from scrutiny in this irreverent and wildly funny parody. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical can be, Urinetown catapulted the “comic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and relentless ability to unleash gales of unbridled laughter.

*Join us on Monday, August 3rd at 6:00pm, for an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performance.
